The Town of Greenburgh offers a variety of recreational programs for residents of all ages. The Recreation Department is located on Olympic Lane and the telephone number is (914) 693-8985. The staff consists of full and part-time professional supervisors who work cooperatively with interested citizens from schools and public and private agencies in the township. Programs are conducted at Department facilities, school sites, and various community centers.

Other Activities: Dancing (modern & folk), ceramics, exercise classes, Halloween window painting contest, special holiday events, jazz concert series, senior citizen activities, nutrition program, recreation for the developmentally disabled

The Town of Greenburgh maintains a 605 acre park system. Throughout the unincorporated area there are 19 major parks and park complexes that include 9 outdoor pools, 29 tennis courts, a new multi-purpose center, a fitness center, four nature preserves, skating ponds, 11 playgrounds, 10 ball fields and various picnic areas.

86 acres approximately half of which is a nature preserve
Entrance is on Dobbs Ferry Road near the Sprain Brook Parkway in Hartsdale

The Greenburgh Department of Parks and Recreation also exercises a professional and custodial function over 2 Town ponds (Crane Pond in Edgemont and Riley Pond in Fairview), and 14 parklets throughout the Township with Glenville in Tarrytown, Knollwood in Orchard Hill and Old Tarrytown Road Park in Fairview as the largest of these parklets. Webb Field on Central Avenue in Hartsdale is the Town's newest acquisition

Theodore D. Young Community Center (914-989-3600)

The Theodore D. Young Community Center is contiguous to the 12.5 acre Yosemite Park and it is operated by the Department of Community Resources. The Center offers many recreational programs and the facility includes:
Indoor heated pool Classrooms
Gymnasium Lounge & Kitchen
Weight room & fitness center - - Performing Arts Studio
Locker rooms & saunas Computer Library

 

Some of the programs offered at the Center include:
After-school programs, Summer day camps, Adult & children Learn-To-Swim programs, Water Babies course, Scuba instruction, American Red Cross certification programs, and Senior citizen programs

 

Greenburgh Nature Center (914-723-3470)

The Greenburgh Nature Center operates a a private, non-profit organization located on what was formerly a 33 acre estate. The property contains a diversity of habitats including, a pond, woodlands, an apple orchard, rock outcroppings, formal gardens, manicured lawns and a 21 room stone and wood manor house constructed in 1918.

Special features include a live animal museum, nature exhibits, a clinic for injured & orphaned wildlife, a discovery room and a gift shop, offering inexpensive nature related gift items. Programs and workshops for both adults and children are scheduled at the center throughout the year.
